Taiwan Tech leaps 20 places in 2026 QS Asia Rankings: 46th in Asia, 5th in Taiwan, top technical and vocational university.
On November 4, the UK higher education evaluation organization QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) released the 2026 QS Asia University Rankings. Taiwan Tech achieved a significant leap, rising 20 places to 46th in Asia compared to last year. This makes Taiwan Tech one of the fastest-improving universities in Taiwan, ranking 5th nationwide and 1st among technical and vocational institutions. The results reflect Taiwan Tech’s ongoing efforts to enhance teaching quality, research performance, and internationalization, demonstrating the university’s success in strengthening its global competitiveness in recent years.
In specific indicators, Taiwan Tech performed particularly well in Inbound Exchange and International Faculty, moving up from 5th and 4th nationwide last year to 3rd place this year. Through the recruitment of international faculty, the promotion of English-taught courses, joint international dual-degree programs, and the bilingual campus initiative, Taiwan Tech has successfully created a welcoming international learning environment, further advancing its campus globalization.
Additionally, Taiwan Tech ranked 6th nationwide in both Employer Reputation and Student-to-Faculty Ratio, 7th in Academic Reputation, and 9th in Citations per Paper, reflecting the university’s balanced approach to practical and academic development while maintaining strong industry connections. In particular, Taiwan Tech graduates have long been highly recognized by employers, highlighting the university’s effectiveness in nurturing talent with innovative thinking and practical skills.
The QS Asia University Rankings this year evaluated 1,529 universities across 25 countries and regions, the largest scale to date. Taiwan has 57 universities on the list, with 8 in the Asian top 100: National Taiwan University (23rd), National Tsing Hua University (37th), National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (41st), National Cheng Kung University (43rd), Taiwan Tech (46th), National Sun Yat-sen University (72nd), National Taiwan Normal University (80th), and National Taipei University of Technology (88th).
The QS Asia University Rankings are based on 11 indicators, including Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Student-to-Faculty Ratio, Citations per Paper, Papers per Faculty, International Research Network, International Faculty, International Students, Proportion of Faculty with Doctorates, and Inbound and Outbound Student Exchange. These metrics comprehensively assess a university’s teaching, research, and internationalization performance.
In recent years, Taiwan Tech has actively promoted internationalization and sustainable development strategies. Beyond increasing the proportion of international students and faculty, the university has expanded its international research network and talent development platforms through collaborations with top global universities and enterprises.
