The establishment of the Indigenous Alumni Association has received full support from the Alumni Association. Honorary Chairman Jian-Wei Chen remarked that the formation of the Indigenous Alumni Association symbolizes Taiwan Tech's commitment to cultural diversity and ethnic integration. He also expressed hope that this platform will connect more Indigenous alumni, foster communication and collaboration, and contribute to both the university and society.
A flag presentation ceremony was specially arranged during the meeting, with the hope that the Indigenous Alumni Association platform will connect more Indigenous alumni and foster communication and collaboration among them.
The founding president of the Indigenous Alumni Association is Yi-Ting Hong, a graduate of the College of Management and an indigenous Tayal. Hong emphasized, “This is a significant milestone. We hope to unite more Indigenous alumni through the association, not only to pass on our culture but also to raise awareness of the efforts and achievements of Indigenous peoples across various fields.”
Ming-Feng Lai, a Tayal alumnus and current faculty member at National Pingtung University’s Department of Business Big Data, shared that as an educator, he understands the importance of education for Indigenous students. He believes the establishment of the alumni association will provide more opportunities to encourage current students to pursue their dreams. By offering scholarships and sharing academic and career experiences, they aim to help students overcome challenges and realize their aspirations.
Amis alumnus Wen-Jun Gu joyfully stated, “The establishment of the alumni association gives us the opportunity to engage more in solving and promoting Taiwan’s Indigenous issues, enhancing societal understanding and support. It also allows us to give back to society and our indigenous communities through concrete actions, contributing to Taiwan’s diverse development.” He looks forward to creating more opportunities in the future, hoping to integrate Indigenous culture into Taiwan Tech’s spirit and bring about positive societal change.
