On the morning of October 29, Taiwan Tech held an industry-academic cooperation signing ceremony in the IB204 conference room of the International Building. President Jia-Yush Yen of Taiwan Tech and Chairman Lee Sun-Jung of Taiwan Fertilizer Co., Ltd. jointly signed the cooperation agreement, announcing their commitment to deep collaboration in high-tech industries, circular economy, and clean energy. Together, they aim to cultivate top talent and contribute to Taiwan's sustainable development.

Taiwan Tech and Taiwan Fertilizer Co., Ltd.'s collaboration includes an industry-academic cooperation plan with sister schools in New Southbound countries, the establishment of specialized courses, and annual scholarships for Taiwan Tech students from these nations. Additionally, Taiwan Tech will engage in bilateral research with its sister schools, with Taiwan Fertilizer Co., Ltd. increasing funding for these projects. Taiwan Fertilizer Co., Ltd. will also provide Taiwan Tech students with comprehensive corporate internships and job opportunities after graduation. Through diverse collaboration models, Taiwan Tech and Taiwan Fertilizer Co., Ltd. aim to create a model for industry-academic cooperation in the New Southbound initiative, emphasizing resource sharing and achieving mutual benefits and win-win results.
In recent years, Taiwan Fertilizer Co., Ltd. has focused on clean energy initiatives, such as using liquid ammonia as an alternative fuel for carbon reduction, and actively implementing ESG and carbon reduction plans. They are also enhancing the localization of the semiconductor industry supply chain by producing, recycling, purifying, and using electronic-grade ammonia, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid, thereby strengthening supply chain resilience and promoting a circular economy. The excellent R&D capabilities of Taiwan Tech’s professors from Department of the engineering, management, and electrical engineering, along with alumni enterprises, can collaborate on research projects.

President Jia-Yush Yen stated that the collaboration with Taiwan Fertilizer Co., Ltd. will not only provide rich learning resources for faculty and students but also facilitate the rapid transformation of academic research into industrial value. This is particularly important for initiatives in “green energy technology” and “circular economy” under the 5+2 industrial innovation plan, driving the growth of Taiwan's next-generation industries and injecting new momentum into industrial upgrading. He expressed hope that both parties will jointly cultivate outstanding talent with interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills, attracting quality New Southbound students to Taiwan.
This year, Zi-Hsuan Wu, an Indonesian master's student in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Taiwan Tech who received the Taiwan Fertilizer Co., Ltd.’s Scholarship, shared her thoughts.
Zi-Hsuan Wu, an Indonesian master's student in the Department of Chemical Engineering Department at Taiwan Tech who received the Taiwan Fertilizer Co., Ltd.’s Scholarship, originally enrolled in a dual-degree program for her undergraduate studies and was encouraged by the scholarship to advance directly to the master's program. She expressed that the scholarship not only provides financial support but also increases her academic passion, leading her to stay at Taiwan Tech for her master's studies. She believes that the establishment of scholarships motivates students to achieve better performance and has discovered her genuine love for research, hoping to continue her studies towards a Ph.D. in the future.
