Taiwan Tech and New Taipei City Government Youth Department sign MOU to promote interdisciplinary cooperation.
On the 16th, Taiwan Tech and New Taipei City Government Youth Development held a signing ceremony for the “MOU on Entrepreneurship Resource Sharing” at the Vocational School Base. The collaboration, signed by the director of the Office of Industry-Academia Collaboration at Taiwan Tech, Chang-Fa Yang, and the director of New Taipei City Government Youth Development, Chao-Mei Chiu, focuses on sharing venue, equipment, and talent resources. Through industry-academia collaboration, it aims to facilitate resource exchange and talent sharing through industry-government-university cooperation and combine the technical resources and innovative academic capabilities of Taiwan Tech to provide comprehensive support for youth entrepreneurship.

Taiwan Tech is the top technical and vocational college in Taiwan which has established a strong presence in the field of industry-academia exchange, earning widespread recognition from enterprises. The Business Incubation Center at Taiwan Tech actively promotes campus innovation and entrepreneurship, drawing on abundant experience and resources in industry-academia collaboration. It has been honored 10 times by the Small and Medium Enterprise Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs as an outstanding incubation institution/center. Additionally, it is one of the few institutions to be recognized by the Asia Association of Business Incubation (AABI) as the best incubation center in Asia.

Chang-Fa Yang, Director of the Office of Industry-Academia Collaboration at Taiwan Tech, highlighted that the university's entrepreneurship incubation teams span across fields such as smart technology, information services, technical equipment, and other fields. He acknowledged the presence of successful teams nurtured by the incubation center, including Huzhi Technology and IMVITEC Corporation, thanking the New Taipei City Government Youth Development for their support. These teams participated in Taiwan's largest artificial intelligence professional exhibition, “AI EXPO 2024”, to expand market opportunities and optimize their business models.
Chang-Fa Yang noted that Andgreen CO., LTD, also present at the event, previously won awards in the 2018 Taiwan Biomimicry Design Challenge co-organized by the New Taipei City Government, achieving top 10 international rankings on behalf of Taiwan. They are now included in the New Taipei City Government's youth entrepreneurship procurement list. Ru-Hung Ji, Chief Operating Officer of Huzhi Technology, expressed, “Through participation in AI EXPO 2024, we initiated preliminary discussions with several enterprises at the exhibition, reaching multiple cooperation intentions and attracting attention from potential investors. This has greatly assisted our team's growth”. Yang hopes that more teams will use resources from the New Taipei City Government Youth Development to enhance market visibility, assist in brand marketing, and facilitate more business opportunities.

Chao-Mei Chiu, Director of New Taipei City Government Youth Development, expressed great pleasure in furthering collaboration with Taiwan Tech. She highlighted Taiwan Tech's top-tier technical teams, abundant research and development capabilities, international alumni network, and the New Taipei City Government Youth Development's resources in venture capital matchmaking, marketing exposure, major exhibitions, and international exchanges. With the counseling capacity of its 8 youth entrepreneurship bases with different themes and hundreds of entrepreneurial mentors, the Youth Bureau aims to complement Taiwan Tech's strengths. Together, they provide a platform for entrepreneurs to facilitate technology transfer, commercialization processes, and international market entry, enhancing global competitiveness for outstanding startup teams.
Chao-Mei Chiu also mentioned the New Taipei City Government Youth Development's recent efforts in connecting university incubation center teams to international events like Meet Taipei, TCCE Creative Expo, Pop Up Asia, and AI EXPO, enabling direct engagement with market challenges. This year's “2024 Venture Star New Taipei Startup Challenge” introduced professional venture capital resources, offering substantial support in business modeling, market planning, talent recruitment, and product development. This initiative helps university incubators propel startups into various markets, ensuring their products establish a firm footing in both B2B and B2C sectors. The New Taipei City Government Youth Development also facilitates suitable enterprises in engaging B2G markets and plans to expand cross-sectoral resources among industry, government, academia, and research, creating broader stages and development opportunities for young entrepreneurs in the future.
