Distinguished Professors Su-Fen Chen and Li-Hsien Yeh of Taiwan Tech honored again with NSTC Outstanding Research Award.

The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) recently announced the list of recipients for the 114th Academic Year Outstanding Research Award, with a total of 80 scholars and researchers receiving this honor. Among them,  Taiwan Tech has two professors recognized, both receiving the award for the second time, demonstrating the university’s strong and sustained research capabilities.

Distinguished Professor Su-Fen Chen, Chair Professor of the Graduate Institute of Digital Learning and Education and concurrently Academic Vice President, previously received the Outstanding Research Award in 2019 (Year 108 of the ROC calendar). Her renewed recognition highlights her long-term and in-depth contributions to educational research. Her areas of expertise include the nature of science, eye-tracking research, digital science experiments, metacognition, social networks, technology integration in physical education, talent cultivation for Industry 4.0, and learning burnout, continually applying innovative approaches to address the needs of educational practice and industrial development.

Distinguished Professor Li-Hsien Yeh, Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Associate Dean of the College of Engineering, also previously received the Outstanding Research Award in 2022 (Year 111 of the ROC calendar). His second recognition reflects key breakthroughs in advanced energy and materials research. His expertise includes the development of metal–organic framework (MOF) and covalent organic framework (COF) membrane materials; novel water-driven clean energy technologies (such as blue energy, electrokinetic energy, moisture-enabled power generation, and droplet-based electricity generation); micro- and nano-fluidic systems; ion transport and ionic circuits; and nanopore sensing technologies, providing concrete solutions for net-zero transition and sustainable development.

The NSTC Outstanding Research Award is divided into two categories: “Basic Research”, which emphasizes breakthroughs in fundamental scientific questions, and “Applied Research”, which focuses on solving practical problems. In addition to receiving a certificate of commendation, each awardee is granted a monetary prize of NT$1.5 million.

Professor Su-Fen Chen of the Graduate Institute of Digital Learning and Education and Professor Li-Hsien Yeh of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Taiwan Tech have both received the NSTC Outstanding Research Award for the second time.
