Upholding its mission - “Connect along the student voices, we learn, we live, we lead” - the Taiwan Tech Student Association is dedicated to listening to and connecting every student’s voice. In recent years, Taiwan Tech has gradually increased student representation, with student delegates now participating in 31 university meetings to help safeguard student rights and interests. This year, the 18th Student Association launched the “You Speak, We Listen” initiative, placing student voices at the core. According to Student Association President Ming-Yi Lin, interactive installations such as a spray-paint wall, nail-driving station, and wish-tie jars were set up across campus to encourage students to express their thoughts and aspirations. Lin expressed hope that such activities will continue, ensuring every Taiwan Tech student is heard.
Former Student Association President Hsin-Chi Lai of the 17th term noted that the university has recently undergone several major developments, including the renovation of the student cafeteria, the opening of the Hwa Hsia Campus, and the celebration of Taiwan Tech’s 50th anniversary. Throughout these milestones, the Student Association remained actively involved, advocating for student interests. She emphasized that the Student Association is a vital platform for students to voice their ideas and work collaboratively with the university to create a better campus environment.

To gain deeper insights into students’ genuine thoughts, the Taiwan Tech Student Association launched the “Message Wall and Campus Street Interview” initiative, collecting students’ most authentic observations, feelings, and suggestions about campus life - many of which included sincere messages. The team discovered that Taiwan Tech students are full of creativity and ideas and that with the right platform for dialogue, truly inspiring conversations can emerge.
This series of activities was honored with the “Outstanding Activity Award” in the Annual Special Achievements category. To build on this success, the Student Association will host a Message Wall Exhibition from May 26 to 28 at the Taiwan Tech Art Gallery. The exhibition will take the form of an interactive living room, creating a relaxed atmosphere where students’ worries, wishes, frustrations, and hopes are transformed into interactive displays - including message cards, journals, wishing jars, and even an anger toilet. This creative presentation aims to extend the impact of the Message Wall, encouraging students to reflect on and better understand their own uncertainties.

Participating in the exhibition was not only a demonstration of the Student Association’s institutional achievements but also a valuable opportunity to reconnect with the student body. The event also provided a nationwide platform for exchanges among student organizations from various universities, allowing teams to observe how others design distinctive activities by leveraging their unique environments and student talents. Through on-site discussions about management philosophies, implementation strategies, and student rights advocacy, Taiwan Tech Student Association members gained significant insights. Student Association President Ming-Yi Lin added that the exhibition fully showcased the association’s efforts and dedication over the past two years. Despite facing numerous challenges along the way, “We never gave up! Presenting all our hard work through this exhibition makes me very happy, proud, and fulfilled.”
Throughout the reform and implementation process, the Student Association adhered to the school motto, “Be excellent in work, sincere in conduct”, by improving regulations, enhancing organizational transparency, and deeply listening to student needs. Each step was driven by a vision of trustworthy student self-governance.
The Student Association also expressed sincere gratitude for Taiwan Tech’s long-term support and trust, which provided ample resources and an open environment for the association to demonstrate its autonomy, continuously promote reforms, and realize innovative ideas. Ming-Yi Lin and Hsin-Chi Lai remarked, “It is precisely because of the school’s strong backing that students’ voices can truly be heard, giving us the chance to turn those voices into actions that make Taiwan Tech a better place.”
