Seven NTUST students won honors for the 8th Technological and Vocational Education Awards.
The Ministry of Education has been holding for years the annual Technological and Vocational Education Awards event to praise outstanding technological and vocational educated students. The 8th award ceremony was held on October the 29th at NTUST for the honors of awarded students and teachers. Awards are also granted to encourage students to get involved in entering worldwide competitions or obtaining professional certificates.
This year, 7 students from NTUST have received the award. They are Chih-Hsuan Lee from the Graduate of Architecture Program of Engineering Technology Yi-Kai Lee, Geng-Min Liao, and Cheng-wen Feng from the Graduate Institute of Industrial and Commercial Design, Sheng-Pin Lo, Yu-Tsung Lai, and Chien-Hsien Liu from the Inter-Disciplinary Bachelor Program.
Chih-Hsuan Lee received Competition Excellence award with his “DUCKWEED PAVEMENT” concept entered in the iF concept award 2012 competition. Lee’s concept stood out among 10,655 entries from around 50 different countries and was nominated top 100 in the iF award. The concept later made it to the second place with the prize of 4,100 EURO.
This year’s Vocational Skills Excellence award goes to Chien-Hsien Liu from NTUST’s Inter-Disciplinary Bachelor Program. Liu had obtained 66 certificates and licenses during his high school years in St. Francis Xavier High School at Taoyuan County. He is a record hold of having received the greatest number of certificates and licenses in vocational school history.
Sheng-Pin Lo won the Gold Medal in Sheet Metal Technology at the World Skills Competition. Yu-Tsung Lai, also from the Inter-Disciplinary Bachelor Program also, won the Gold Medal in Bicycle Repair at the International Abilympics.
The aim of the Technological and Vocational Education Award is to honor students and teachers with outstanding performances or success at numerous international competitions. Examples such as students awarded at INPEX or students obtaining outstanding certification performances will be honored Competition Excellence award or Vocational Skills Excellence award. This year, 62 people of 34 entries were awarded, standing out from 875 nominations of all the2,539 entries.
